The identity card is a personal document used to prove your identity.
If you are a non-EU citizen, you must carry it with you at all times along with your residence permit or residence card.
In order to obtain an identity card, you must make an appointment with the URP (public relations office) - Office of vital statistics service of your district or with the URP of Piazza Maggiore. If you are not a resident of the Municipality of Bologna, you only need to contact the URP in Piazza Maggiore.
