👶 What do you need if your child is under 6 years old?
What do you need to enroll a child who is less than 6 years old in school?
If your child is less than 3 years old, you can only enroll in the nursery school online at the Municipality's website. You need: the ISEE, the residence and the SPID credentials. If you are a worker, you also need your work data. If you are a student, you need the certificates of enrollment in the course of study.
If your child is between 3 and 5 years old, you can enroll online in Preschool, which many people also call "kindergarten". You'll need SPID credentials and your work or course of study information.

If you don't have a computer or need help filling out the online application, you can book an appointment with the School Office. The School Office will get you help.
🧒 What do you need if your child is over 6 and under 13?
What do you need to enroll a child who is more than 6 years old and less than 13 years old in school?
If your child is more than 6 years old and less than 13 years old, you can enroll in elementary school, which many people call "elementary school," or secondary school, which many people call "middle school." You can go to the Comprehensive Institutes near your home to ask for information. To enroll you must go to the MIUR site.

You can contact your neighborhood SEST.
SEST means "Territorial Educational Service".
Neighborhood SEST deals with the right to study and school access for children with certified disabilities.
SEST also deals with promoting wellness, combating school dropout, and school guidance.
SEST has educators who deal with projects for the management of free time, i.e., those activities for children and youth outside of school hours, spaces for study support and help for parents.

Other things to know about your child's school
🥪 Cafeteria and pre-post school services
Do you need cafeteria services, i.e., lunch at school? Or do you need elementary school pre- and after-school services, i.e. getting your child into school before 8:30 am or getting your child out after 4:30 pm?
You can ask for these services on the Internet on the portal of the Municipality of Bologna. Find the link below. In the portal, click on "On-line registration to the educational and school services of the Municipality of Bologna".
To request these services on the Internet you need your FEDERA (high reliability) or SPID credentials.
🩺 Medical Certificates and Vaccines
Does your child have particular health conditions certified by a doctor?
If your child has particular health conditions certified by the doctor of the AUSL (Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale), you must indicate these conditions in the application form.
Is your child up to date with his/her vaccinations?
A child enrolled in school must be up to date with his/her vaccinations. You can find information on the website indicated below.

How can you apply for book subsidies and book grants?
In order to apply for subsidized rates and book subsidies you need ISEE.
To apply for the book contribution, you have to apply online at the beginning of the school year on the web page of the Emilia-Romagna Region indicated below.
If you do not have a computer or if you need help filling out the online application, you can book an appointment with the School Office in your district. The School Office can help you.
